My Story
From a young age, I struggled with many aspects of fitness; I had poor coordination, balance, speed and endurance. I was desperate to become fitter and so dedicated a great deal of time and effort to training and learning about the body. I joined the Army when I was 16 and served as a Musician for the next 16 years. I immersed myself in sport and fitness, playing hockey and powerlifting for the Army and later representing GB as a powerlifter. After leaving the Army I trained as a PE teacher, which I continue to do part time. As I approach middle age, I have come to value a holistic approach to fitness that incorporates relaxation, meditation and various styles of yoga alongside more traditional training - a healthy mind supports a healthy body.
My Yoga & Pilates Journey
I am passionate about sharing my love of health and fitness with others. I trained as a personal trainer, specialising in strength and conditioning, almost 20 years ago and have since worked with a range of clients to support their journey in the pursuit of optimum holistic health. As well as strength and conditioning, I am a keen yoga and Pilates practitioner and teacher and have been practising yoga and meditation for over 25 years. I qualified as a yoga teacher in 2016 with Special Yoga, specialising in Teen Yoga and yoga for Special Populations, and have since completed vinyasa yoga teacher training with Vidya Heisel at Frog Lotus Yoga in Spain, and advanced teacher training with Louisa Craig and David Keil at LKY Yoga; I am also a DRU meditation teacher. I have a keen interest in Indian philosophy, and endeavour to live according to yogic principles. In 2023, I qualified as a Pilates teacher with Future Fit. After experiencing a spine injury a number of years ago, I found Pilates to be an invaluable form of exercise on my path to recovery and believe that everyone can benefit from a regular Pilates practice regardless of age, ability or experience.
